Sorry it has been awhile since I have written in…it has been amazing having some off time and I have been a bit oblivious to everything going on….a nice disconnect after the stress of the Open and Davis Cup

Obviously the most exciting thing going on in the last couple of weeks for me has been us advancing to the Davis Cup final the last home final was in ‘92 in Dallas…I was actually at that final when I was nine and instantly fell in love with Davis cup…it was probably the best team ever with Agassi Sampras McEnroe and Courier on the team…it made a huge impression on me and I will always remember it…its an absolute dream for me that it has come full circle and I will be part of the team trying to bring the cup back on home soil…I would not wanna do It with anyone besides the guys on our squad!

I was lucky enough to hang out with my friend Boyd Tinsley and catch a couple Dave Matthews band shows in Florida the week before Davis Cup…I have loved them since I was 12 so to be able to cruise around with them for a couple of days was just ridiculous for me…Bob and Mike were at the shows also.

Unfortunately I had to pull out of Bangkok with a heel problem tests showed no major damage but I have not practiced much with Davis Cup coming up I will not do anything to put my health in doubt for a long period.

We are all super excited for the Foundation event that’s coming up with Elton John…it’s amazing that he is coming and we are excited to raise a bunch if money!

So last week we launched the Andy Roddick Youth Tennis program on the west side of San Antonio with the help of the Rene Lacoste Foundation and the USTA Tennis and Education Foundation…there are articles up on the site with detailed info about the program that I ask you to check out…I just wanna say how proud I am of my brother Lawrence…this program was really his idea and he has worked night and day to get it off the ground.

Check out this band called The Editors…I saw them on tv in England earlier this summer but have been listening to them a lit recently also check out the Dave Matthews/Jurassic 5 song called work it out check out the best new Austin band called Meridian West saw them last Wednesday and they are a great live band.

So I saw one of the coolest stories in the USA today sports section…if a baseball team makes the playoffs the players all receive bonuses in their contracts the Colorado Rockies players voted to give their playoff shares to the widow of former first base coach Mike
Coolbaugh…he was a coach for their minor league affiliate in Tulsa…with so many negative stories going around in the sports world its refreshing to come across a selfless act like this.

Austin is still the best city on earth

Fine of the week- me! So a bunch of friends and I decided to take the boat out late one night…we were having fun and listening to music and all was good that was until we tried to start the motor to head back home…the boat had died and I had managed to get eight
friends stranded on Lake Austin…thanks to my friend Dillon for helping me swim it back to the dock for about an hour…ha ha!!

Butthead: whoever invented the “turduckin”…apparently the new thing for Thanksgiving is a turkey stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a chicken….what chefs are calling a “turduckin”…gross

Self-chuck of the week- to that person who always claps or says something stupid when you are at a restaurant and a waiter or waitress drops a plate or something…if you are that person feel free to chuck yourself into the nearest wall or a piece of hard furniture…whatever is closest
