Andy Roddick (USA)[3] beat Paul-Henri Mathieu (FRA) 6-2 7-5 7-6 (8-6).

Q. Can you go over that rather amazing tiebreak with us.

ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, I mean, I got down quick but, you know, I felt like I had I didn't make first serves, but I did make him hit two pretty good passing shots to get up.

T. Haas - 2 July
Monday, 2 July, 2007

Q. Tell us about your situation.

TOMMY HAAS: Yeah, sure, unfortunately I have to withdraw from Wimbledon due to a severe, yeah, stomach tear in my lower abdominal. I felt it a little bit a couple days ago, that my whole body was obviously tight since I haven't played a lot of matches.

I wasn't really able to practice much before the tournament started, didn't really think too much of it really against Dimitry. In the beginning and middle of the second set, I started having some unbelievable pain in that area. I don't know if you remember, but I called out the doctors there, took some painkillers.

M. Safin - 29 June
Friday, 29 June, 2007

Roger Federer (SUI)[1] beat Marat Safin (RUS)[26] 6-1, 6-4, 7-6

Q. You talked yesterday about playing this match with nothing to lose, and yet it looked like until the third set, and when you really let the ball fly, you just played freely. It didn't look like you were playing with nothing to lose until then.

MARAT SAFIN: No, well, the problem was that I never played it's my first time I've played on Centre Court since many years, so I kind of it was a strange feeling for me, so it took me about two sets to get used to it.

Andy Roddick (USA)[3] beat Fernando Verdasco (ESP) 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2)

Q. Another 7 6. I'm sure you're aware you're winning a lot of tie-breaks. Just the way it's falling? Are you playing them differently?

ANDY RODDICK: Just confidence. You know, I'm making guys play in breakers. I'm making them play on their serves. You know, I think he had something like 47 winners and 26 errors today in three sets.

Tommy Haas (GER)[13] beat Tomas Zib (CZE) 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4

Q. Some of the people at IPI, who knows whether you'd even be playing here at Wimbledon this year. I wonder if you could chat with us a little bit about what they've been able to do with the injury you've had.

TOMMY HAAS: Well, you know, it's always kind of like, you know, heartbreak when you have an injury again, especially when it's the shoulder. It kind of scares you a little bit more maybe another injury that you didn't have before. It happened to be in Rome and I went back to Florida to try to see my physio there to see if he could get it back in shape.

M. Safin - 28 June
Thursday, 28 June, 2007

Marat Safin (RUS) defeated Aisam Ul-Haq Qureshi (PAK) 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4)

Q. Grass has historically not been your best surface, but you have played Roger very tough on grass, and you beat him before. Nobody quite knows which Marat Safin will be there to play Federer in the next round.

MARAT SAFIN: For me it's another opportunity to play a great match. First of all, for me it's a huge challenge. Centre Court, play against Federer. He's playing pretty well. He's playing great tennis. If I want to have a chance at least to be close to beat him, I have of course to put up my best game, go for it. Also I have nothing to lose because he's the favorite here. He's playing pretty good tennis on grass. It's his best surface, I guess. But also, like I said, I have nothing to lose. I need to play my tennis, stay focused, take my chances. For sure there are going to be. Just wait and see. Of course, why not? Like I said, it's a challenge. Why not?

Marat Safin (RUS)[26] beat Rik De voest (RSA) 7-6(7-5), 6-4, 7-5

Q. How do you think you played today?

MARAT SAFIN: Well, for the conditions, first match at Wimbledon is pretty tough to play well, so kind of nervous at the beginning, and a difficult match with the guy I played. It was okay the first match, I think.

A. Roddick - 25 June
Monday, 25 June, 2007

Q. Relieved to finally put that match away?

ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, it feels like that one game in the third set took longer than the rest of the match. It was tough. It was a weird match because I felt like, you know, the best set I played was the toughest one. I started to kind of find my rhythm on my returns a little bit in the third set, and, you know, didn't have a lot of to show for it there for the majority of it. It's always nice to get through.

Q. 74% first serves in, no breaks. This is the way you win on grass courts?
